Meet the Dancer: 60 seconds with Mitch Round
26th October 2018
Hi, tell us a little about your background …
Hi Trailblazers. I’m Mitch, I’m 38 and I live in Solihull with my wife and two children; Rufus & Scarlett. When I’m not commuting to London I try to get in some form of cricket or cycling based activity, but not normally at the same time.
Why did you decide to participate in Strictly?
Strictly Come Dancing is a bit of an event in our household and one of the things we all make time for every week – normally on a Sunday night, and I’ve always admired the skill involved. When I heard there was a chance I could have a go at something similar I immediately thought “I can’t! But I have to!” and I swallowed my pride and said yes. I’d be kicking myself forever if I’d have bottled it 🙂
Fancy footwork or two left feet?
Have you heard the expression “Twinkle-toes?” Well, I’m his older, heavier brother… Treacle-Toes!
Dream dance partner?
I’d straight up be delighted to dance with Patrick Swayze, but more realistically (due to the virtue of her being alive) I’ll go with Cha-Cha DiGregorio* – the naughty one who gave Sandy the shove when dancing The Hand Jive in Grease. What a woman 🙂
What are your hopes for the night?
I hope I’m as good as I can be, for my own sake as well as for my partner Jess. I hope the charity do well out of the night, I hope my fellow dancers all do well, but with slightly inferior performance values to myself & Jess. And I hope we put on a great show for the people spending their own money, giving up their own time to come & support us.
(*I know she’s a fictional character, but if I’m going to be dancing in front of 1,000 people, it just shows anything can happen.)
